Headley Bowling Club

A little about us
A quick summary of what we are all about
The Club has around 40 playing members, and during the summer season the green is in daily use for both competitive and social bowling.
The Club is affiliated to Bowls England, Bowls Hampshire and the Three Counties Fellowship. We currently have two mixed triples teams competing in the Three Counties League. Our own internal Wednesday mixed triple league is extremely popular as are our Club individual competitions. The Club also enters a number of national, county and regional knockout cup competitions. Individual members also enter outside competitions at these levels. We also organise many Friendly home and away games throughout the playing season for members to enjoy.
The Club has a warm and welcoming policy and maintains a year-round social programme. Over recent years our Charity Day has raised in excess of £12,000 for local charities. Anyone of any age or ability is welcome at the Club and tuition can be arranged with our nationally qualified coach.
Club History
Headley Bowling Green was originally laid down in the 1940s but fell into dereliction in the middle 60s. In 1980, in response to public demand within the village, a determined group of enthusiasts re-established bowling.
The bowling green is situated at the rear of the Sports Pavilion on Mill Lane. It forms part of what must be one of the best outdoor multi-sports facilities of any village. The green has four rinks and one of the best playing surfaces in East Hants. The quality of the green is the result of years of dedicated effort on the part of Club members. That dedication is continuing and expanding with the surrounds displaying a profusion of colour in the flower beds tended by the members.
